Will Plecos Eat Fry?

So how do I add nitrates? Sorry, I know it's a very nitrogen cycle-ly thing to ask, and I know what it is, but would the solution be putting more fish in the tank? I've had others in the tank before, and never had this black beard problem.
You add nitrates by either adding KNO3 but just more fish would be fine as well
