I have an albino cory cat that had his tail slightly bitten off, didn't get down the the body just the very tip of his tail. I heard that salt will help with growing the fins back but I also heard that cory's cannot tolerate salt in thier water.

Can anyone clarify which is true?

thanks for any help

I'm not sure about the salt thing, as I've never tried it at all.

I use melafix to good effect. Give that a try; it's mild and safer than salt and much less trouble to use.

Salt will help to prevent any infection and that is really all that melafix will do. Quality water and good food will speed recovery. If the spins of the fins were also damaged you may not see any growth, which happened to some of my parents tetras. But they still lived a long life even with the damaged fins.
