I got a shipment of plants yesterday, and it's been about 24hrs. My Cryptocorynes are wilting. The leaves are getting soggy looking and they are curling up a bit. Is this normal for new plants?
Bubbles is correct. Some crypts wilt, some don't. But they'll come back nice and strong. I think most of the melting with new crypts has to do with a big change in your tank water compared to the tank water where they came from especially if there's a difference in water hardness.
Thanks for confirming that for me. I asked this on another forum, but I figure I'll get a response sooner if I ask here. Is it okay for me to continue dosing ammonia with plants? I am still cycling.
If it makes you feel any better, mine sporadically wilt for no apparent reason. It sucks, but just trim the wilting leaves off as low to the substrate as possible and wait for the new growth.
No I don't have fish yet, waiting on the nitrItes to disappear. I bring my ammonia up to 3.0ppm every morning, and by the time I check them the next day they are completely gone. I was really hoping to get fish this weekend, but it looks like its not going to happen
The cryptocoryne wendtii 'Mi Oya' are doing just fine, but the 'green' ones are having a hard time.
