i recently bought one of those special windelov java ferns, i have anchored it to one of those texas holey rocks in my 29 gallon aquarium with one 20w flourescent bulb. Ive read that java ferns dont need that much light so i havent seen my lighting as a problem. ( i have no other plants in the tank). My problem is that i have noticed that some of the leaves have been turning brown.....what am i doing wrong????? Thanks in advance

just a side note: i do not use and co2 or fertilizers. im not familiar with either of them. and its a relatively new aquarium. its fully cycled and has a pleco and 4 zebra danios in it. im waiting to get my african cichlids.

20w maybe too low even for a java sword. How long are your lights on??

aorund 10-12 hours a day. but i only have a light fixture for one bulb and they dont make a 24 in bulb more than 20 watts, at least i cant find one online...

You can try adding another top/light. Or make/buy a canopy to have 2 lights. Or buy a PC light.
