Hey I wasn't sure where to put this question but here seemed best. I have 3 bichir and they are out all the time at night, and when algea takes over the bottom of my hood so the light is more dim. However I just cleaned it and they hide under the rocks now all the time waiting for the light to be turned off. Is it possable to put window tinit on the side of the hood your light rests on to dim the light? Or is there a low light bulb I can buy. I currently use 1 sun-glo bulb. I have a spot for another bulb but then it's WAY to bright.

you could just let the alaae grow on in it.......If that is not suitable for you though you could try placing a tinted sheet of hard plastic, or tinted glass (think window sun catcher). These items can be found in the craft section of most stores like walmart. Place this between the glass top and the light strip to dull the light coming out. This could very well be a possible fire hazard if you choose plastic though. Just some thoughts....

Thanks. I don't have an issue with the algea I just cleaned my tank up when I switched my gravel to sand, looking back now I wish I hadn't. The algea will come back soon enough. Thanks for the tips.
