Windows 7 - A Visual Tour ** PIC INTENSIVE **

Where do Windows 98, 2K and ME fall numerically?

Windows 98 was just basically a clone of 95 with upgraded graphical user interface...Windows ME ( Windows Multiple Errors ) was never a true OS, just a stop gap measure to get people used to idea of the merge up to the new NT kernel ( at the time ) of Windows 2000...

Windows vista is a stop gap for windows 7!! Vista is what ME was to XP, a prerequisite. It was a live beta test. Me was visually enhanced win 98. Vista a visually enhanced xp. Me short lived, Vista short lived. Windows 7 will be the new standard OS built off of complaints and the error reports people send when their computer has a problem. Why do you think they put that in the OS!!
I love the beta of windows 7 ....really fast and much more streamlined already, and they have a bit of time until its release....cant wait for the final version.

**As a side note...the kernel used in 95, 98 and ME were all the based on the same 4.x kernel ( internal version number ) **

if 98 being based on the same kernel as 95 negates it's qualifying for being counted as a separate version, then where do they get off calling the "finished version of vista" 7? ;)
