Windows 7 RC1 now available for download.

Vista runs great with the appropriate hardware behind it. It gives me less fits than XP did. That being said, if Windows 7 can accomplish the same thing or better with fewer resource allocations, then that's even better. I wouldn't mind switching once the product comes out commercially if that is the case.

I love XP and hate Vista. To me it's not just that it runs slower on most of the hardware out there, but it's that it treats me, the end user, like a moron. I can go into the control panel and click on the sound applet for instance and I'm greeted by a message asking me if I really want to run the sound applet. Umm, yes I do or I wouldn't have freaking clicked on it. If I don't want to run it, I'll close it. It's not that difficult. Hate that with a passion. You have to reboot to turn it off and if you do, it pops up balloon warnings letting you know that UAC is turned off. Edit the registry to not pop up balloons and you miss out on alerts that are valuable and that you do want. Vista irks me.

Anyhoo, I do like what I've seen from Windows 7 so far. Thinking of building a new computer and putting Windows 7 on it around the end of the year.
