the end bits which are closer to the light grow fine but the leaves on the lower part of the plant are shrivled

Thanks for the advice, I love bushy plants and when should I have to use plant food? Is there any great plant food that will not affect fish, water chemistry, ect?
I use Flourish. Be warned, all ferts will affect water chemistry, they're supposed to. Just follow the directions and see how it goes from there. Wisteria soaks up nitrogen like a sponge. My Wisteria isn't dormant for anything. it grows. And Grows, And grows. And Grows...

Will it stress my fish? I have mollies, danios, swordtails and platies.
It shouldn't too much. If you have test kits, just monitor the levels. Mostly it is nitrogen and trace elements in ferts. When you add it the nitrogen should go up, but as others have said, Wisteria ia a nitrogen sucker-upper. I would dose according to the directions and then test and see what you get. Do some daily testing and determine a dosing schedule.

Yep I usually pull mine up once every month and trim the bottoms off along with the roots, I will noticed slowed growth (probbably while its making more roots) for a weekish and then back to normal.

there is one called master fresh water test kit no brand name. green box, not a bad box of drops.

Can I keep wisteria and micro swords together?
The Wisteria will nip the fins of the Micro Sword. Oh wait....

As long as lighting is suffucient, you should be able to.
