Woman Arrested, Cuffed for Eating Candy

This is NOT a terrorism issue. It is, as GEL said, about anal Metro police. It is clearly posted that there is no food and drink allowed on the trains or even in the stations.

Secondary reporting seems to indicate that the woman in question put up an argument and it got hairy from that point, so there may have been an aggravation issue.

Some people have issues with authority. If she didn't give them any grief should would have been fine.

Follow the rules and finish your Bon Bons before you get on the train chubby!

They should have pulled a Rodney King on her...

I know of several women who have had some sort of problem with the police trying to assault them. As a woman, I'd be terrified if a lone police officer started to follow me. I'm not a law-breaker by nature so I know it isn't something I'd have done.

One woman I know was telling me how dangerous her inner city life was while she was growing up. I, in my suburban innocence, asked why she didn't go to the police for some things and she told me how the officers in her neighborhood tried to get her into their car. So I actually think she probably wasn't overreacting to his following her. I'm not saying this is the case, but those may have been the thoughts in her head! Several women around here (Almost rural MN) are afraid of getting pulled over when driving alone because of something that happened before I moved here.

I know it's a feminist perspective, but I think it may explain her reaction a bit.

Dwayne,

I have been taking the MBTA now for 20 years...

It is pure entertainment.

Yesterday a little old man with knotted grey hair, drinking out of a giant sippy cup was talking to himself outloud. I turned around to see what was going on and heard...

"Don't know what he's looking at, Wonder what he's looking at? Better turn around. Don't know what he's looking at. Don't know why the big guy is turning around"

LOL...

He was obviously homeless and had reached that super level of crazy that only 30 years of living on the streets can do to you.

Hey DeVitaf you think you see crazy things on the streets, oh the stories I could tell about people in the hospital, the ER and the ICU, the psyco ward when I worked there, oh my....lions, tigers and bears are tame compared to people;)

That is the funniest thing I have read in a long time!!!

In 2000, a police officer handcuffed a 12-year-old girl for eating a french fry on a subway platform
Come on now, seriously!!! Handcuffs?

DeVitaf, great story! The T is an endless source of amusement for me too. Most of the time I just read my book, but sometimes I like to watch the show (Porter Square - Downtown Crossing on the red line usually has the best shows, LOL!)!

ps, I watched Shrek this weekend with my son and totally though of you when the gingerbread man torture scene came on, hehe!
