I am trying to keep my eyes open for just the right piece of wood for my 10 gallon tank. Don't really want to buy anything. Don't live near a body of water for driftwood.
?... I've read it is not recommended to use freshly cut wood because of sugars and starches that will break down in the beginning and because of possible parasites. Wouldn't boiling take care of these issues? I've seen it is recommended to boil for 2 hours. Someone else is following up their boiling with baking as well, though I'm not sure if they are using fresh wood or not.
Comments and ideas are appreciated.
