Yay me! We've been wanting a new, large tank for a long time now, but we started looking seriously just recently. In fact, we just went out today to price some 125g's at the local stores and chain stores. We weren't planning on buying anything...just looking. Then, as we're on our way out the door of Petquarters, the manager (who we really like) says "Oh oh! I forgot. Come look at this!" We walked over to the bulletin board and he said that a guy just came in 20 minutes before and posted an add saying he was selling his 150g tank because he was moving and his real estate agent said he had to get the tank out to show the house (its a really nice house!). So, we called the guy from the parking lot and went over to his house.

There it was. A 150g tank, solid oak stand with canopy (I'd have preferred the fake black, but that's okay). Its rigged with the outlet boxes on the inside of the frame, comes with 2 big powerheads (which I won't use, but oh well), 2 or 3 nice diatom filters, the lights (which I also won't use), pretty much everything. He was asking $450 OBO, but he seemed to really like us (we stayed for over an hour) and he just said he'd give it to use for $400!:D So, we'll be picking it up in a week or two.

I can't wait. It's going to be a slow process setting up since we need new canister filters, more lights, the fish etc..which all cost $ of course. But since I q-tine all new arrivals for a few weeks, it should be alright. I'm so excited:D

Oh and WOW. You should have seen his handmade bird display case. It had some of the most exotic, gorgeous finches I've ever seen. The display was huge! He also had cockatiels and cockatoos and a bunch of other critters. Too cool!

What are you going to stock it with?

I recently got a 150 gallon stock tank for my 2 florida gar.

"More driftwood with java ferns?"

Yep. I like how my 55g is so low maintenance (trim it once a month unless its contest time). No ferts, etc. I figure, with a big tank, less maintenance is better than more.

I'll just be doing more of the same, fish wise. I love peaceful community tanks. So, more tetras (congos), rasboras, rainbows, cories, etc. "Boring" stuff:p

Wow! Nice deal...
You are going to like a large tank! :)

Pics please!
