Sounds exciting! Some may argue with me, but I'm of the opinion that it is always better to at least let the parents try raising their offspring a few times first, especially if you aren't keeping them just to sell their babies. Usually they do a great job! Congrats and keep us all posted. If you do see eggs, you may want to look in to hatching brine shrimp for them to feast on...
thx every1 the "parents" keep on going in the driftwood hmmmmmm. they also keep chasing eachother around again, hmmmmmm. and i just got them yesterday!
Go buy a sponge filter, and stick the sponge in your current filter assembly. When the babies are big enough that they have to be moved you will have a "pre-cycled" filter sponge that you can put right into the grow up tank.
Eggs, not sure what color, but they should be attached to a rock or something and be the size of a pinhead. The parents will be gaurding them.
i already have a sponge filter but thx for the advice ummmm i dont really have enough room for any more convicts and im already starting to breed mollies and platys in my community tank so i dont have enough room for the convicts so that meens the babys are going to be oscar food i mite try to raise them and then sell them i dont no eh so confused.
Females usually have orange bellies. The eggs should be clearish white and as said above will be attached to a rock or other flat surface. You should see movement in the eggs after a couple days, and have babies within a week. The decision is yours, but they should be ok in the tank with mom and dad till they are big enough to sell to the lfs.
