worm outbreak

my red devil tank is now infected with worms..........a couple days ago i noticed that there were lots of white/clear hairlike things floating around....upon closer inspection i noticed that on the glass are tiny lil creatures moving around.

i think i aquired the worms, when last week I fed 'red' some feeders from a LFS...I now this because I, like an idoit, just dumped the whole bag of feeders with water into my tank

i did a water change today and after vacuuming the gravel the water is totally infested with these worms....the water is cloudy looking cause of the amount of worms!

what do i do?????????? i really don't want to clean the tank out and start over....anybody have an easier solutions?

I used the search button to help you out and found quite a few threads on teh topic. Here is a quote from Leopardess:

Look up planaria and nematodes. There are several threads here if you use AC's search feature. They're not harmful to fish - just indicate excess wastes in the substrate. Frequent gravel vac-ing/water changing will get rid of them. Many fish will eat them. Generally, any worms you see that are free swimming (meaning not on/or coming out of a fish) are not detrimental (directly) to those fish. Any parasitic types of worms need a host to live. If they are free swimming, they don't have a host and so probably aren't parasitic
