Hello,
I just got a GSP fish and I was wondering something on the food part.
I raise red worms for composting and so I would like to know if the puffers can eat these?

I believe so, though not as the only thing in their diet. They need crunchy foods like clams and snails to wear down their teeth. You can feed foods like bloodworms, mysis shrimp, and brine shrimp in between for a snack. However, their main diet should be things like clams, snails, shrimp with shell on (uncooked or live is best), mussels, etc. Also, do not feed krill as the main diet since it can cause lockjaw. It is fine for a treat though. Here's a link to a page with several articles on feeding. That site in general has the most accurate and plentiful information on all sorts of puffers as well as more general info like feeding and teeth trimming. The third artcile in the link is about what to feed and why. Frozen and live foods are the best since they are the most readily taken by puffers as well as being the most nutritious. Also, live foods provide a hunt, which is essential for the well-being of the puffer who needs something to stimulate his intelligence and hunting instinct. They are much happier with a chance to hunt.

it looks like bazil already got this one, but about hunting is very true and shrimp i see give him the most hunting stimulate because they are so fast and can jump at any given time, so it is almost a little work out to catch the little guys. but also earth worms from a non-toxic areas are ok as well as the "red worms" your feeding them. and snails you mine as well start breeding in a heavily planted tank because you do not want to get in an over bite situation with you gsp. :)

I have three species of frog and I cant get any of them to eat earth worms. It sucks because they eat all the crickets in one night and earth worms last so long in the fridge. Maybe if you want to switch diet you could go with meal worms and wax worms. All my critters love wax worms its the universal treat _________________Young drivers
