We got some snails and I can't find one. The LFS said that they were turbos but I was under the impression that turbos were smaller. These are about an inch long maybe the size of a ping pong ball. (slightly smaller) There was a problem with one of the clowns and we extracted it the hospital tank. We had to move some rock and I'm worried that we may have buried it or blocked it in.

My question is this, before I start removing all of the rock, how alarmed should I be? I've heard tales of apple snails dying and fouling entire tanks with a giant ammonia spike. Would this be the case here and should I immediately start any and all measures to find the snail. (could just be hiding)

Glad the snail made an appearance!

When I re-arrange the tank, I try to keep track of the larger snails and limpets os they don't get trapped somewhere. Haven't had it happen yet.

In a newer tank, a dead snail can cause a spike. In a well-established tank with an appropriate level of detrivores, you likely won't even notice it.

wow

for the love of a snail. i'm touched. i was once the same way...before I lost my first love. followed up by a few shrimp deaths, a watchman goby, and an outbreak of ich! where's the angry face icon??? oh well, this'll do.
