Worried About My Bottomfeeder

Dang that's big I hope someone can tell me that isn't what he is. Has anyone figured out what the spot might be yet? The picture in the above posts don't show the spot (I accidently put that pic there, and now I can't repeat the accident), but if you go to my album there are some with the spot in question. That is my main concern, I sure don't want to lose him. Both my husband and I like him and watch him alot.

I have the same syno, got him at petsmart too. Not sure what kind he is but I have 2. One is a lot darker, while one is white as you have. My two have maxed out at about 7 inches. I find they are both pretty turf aggressive, as they fight only with each other over a hiding spot behind a large piece of driftwood. I highly doubt this is an injury from your other fish but feel like I need to ask what your parameters are in the tank. Also, do you have any caves that he may have scraped himself on while trying to make his home?

I can't help you on the disease/injury ID, but the fish is a Synodontus notata x Synodontis ocellifer hybrid. They're fairly common in the hobby and will usually get to about 8 inches long, 9" being the maximum.
