Would a betta work in my community setup

Would a betta work in my tank. See signature for my current plans. I think that he might get lost in 29 gallons of water though. It would be like me swimming a hot tub, then being thrown into the middle of an ocean. I like bettas, but dont want a second fish tank, and Im not going to throw him in a 1/2 gallon bowl. I have the water filled up high, so the current is pretty minimal. Also, if it would work, would a male and female get along, or would they still want to fight each other?

Not sure if the danios or the minnows would nip on a bettas fins or not? Hopefully someone else knows that for sure. If not, he should fit in there just fine.

My betta is in a 55 gallon and loves it. He just got out of the 10 gallon quarantine tank about a week ago and you can really tell a difference in how he acts. He's much more active in the bigger tank.

It's not really a good idea to keep a male and female betta together either. They can be rather aggressive towards each other. Even breeders only keep them together long enough to spawn, then the female is removed to safety to recover. If you really want to keep more than one betta together, you can normally keep several female bettas in a tank together without much trouble. They are still somewhat aggressive towards each other, but, as long as they aren't terribly crowded, will manage to work everything out most of the time.

Sounds good so far. I dont own the minnos yet, and I am probably going to replace them with tetras or something. One male should be cool though if it works. Thanks for the advise, hopefully somebody else can tell me for sure that it will work.

I've kept plenty of bettas and currently do. Nearly all of them have been in community tanks. I've kept them with ghost shrimp, and white clouds before from off of your list. No problems at all. I've kept them in 5's, 10's, 15's, 20 longs, and 30 gallon tanks. No problems there either. Currently I have 2 in one of my community tanks. One male and one female. For the first 3 days there was chasing but now they're fine. An occasional 'dart' from either or to the other, but nothing to worry about. They're even in there with an angel, a guppy, and a few other fish too, no problem. There is hardly any decor in there either. They all get along fine. For some reason this tank is my best tank. It's a mut-tank (no theme just a bunch of diff fish that my mom like, or that I want to throw in there) but it seems I can throw any fish in there and they'll thrive.

Keep in mind that danios can be fin nippers, and their speed can drive slow-moving fish like betas crazy. If you make sure there are areas where the beta can get away from all the activity (lots of plants, other hiding places) I'm sure he'll be fine.
I've kept male betas in a 10g, 20g, and 45g over the years - sometimes at first they weren't sure what to do with all the room, but once they made the adjustment they became quite different fish from the sickly-looking things you see lined up in little cups at the LFS. A betta as part of a community tank is a beautiful sight to behold.
