Going back to the question I posted earlier about what kind of glue I can use to fasten rocks together. I thought about using hot-glue. Any thoughts or concerns about this product?

Are you going to putting these rocks in your aquarium? If so I believe your best choice would be using an aquarium safe silicone. I've been told that that is the only thing that should be used in a tank.

Hot glue is not sesigned to be water resistant, and it may cpntain unsafe components. Also, hot glue's strenght is lower than conventional silicone.

hot glue will not hurt your fish, but it wont hold together very well either. its meant to be used on porous surfaces. if you use it on a rock, or glass, or smooth plastic, it will just peel right off when it cools. it works best on fabric, dry wood, seashells, things that it can hold onto.

Silicone is far from the best IMHO & IME. Silicone's hold on rocks is extended temporary. Epoxy putty is a order of magnitude or two better.

Is epoxy aquarium safe? Good info to know!

RTR,

Most of the epoxy I've almost bought had warnings about not being food safe. What kind is suitable for in-aquarium use?
