Would I be overstocked?

Hi all,
Since my betta Cosmo can't get along with anybody, he needs his own tank. Currently I have a 20 high gallon tank and my landlordad only allows one more 2.5 gallon! :'(

Would my male betta with 2 zebra nerite snails be too much for a 2.5 gallon tank?

I'm also trying to convince my landlord to let me do a 5 gallon! So until that happens I'm stuck with the 2.5 gallon.

As always, all suggestions and tips welcome!

He should be just fine in a 2.5gal.
 
Male bettas are not good with other fish and that's all there is to it. It isn't just Cosmo. they are all like that. They are known as Siamese Fighting Fish, and they do live up to their name. He should be fine in 2.5 g with a filter and heater. He'd be happier in the 5g, but if the landlord says no, what can you do?

Am just jealous of all the YouTube videos with the bettas in community tanks! But it's okay.

Can I add the 2 nerite snails too or that is too much bioload for this sized tank?

Also, is it true that a 2.5 gallon tank is hard to cycle??
 
Bettas can be in community tank, it just depends on the betta itself. If the betta does not want tankmates then he wont allow tankmates. If he is ok with tnak mates then he will allow tankmates.I have never had a mean betta. I have always had other fish with my bettas, I am pretty lucky that all of them were nice.
 
If the betta is male...it greatly increases the chance of problems...females, not so much.
 
How is you landlord going to know you have something other than a 2.5g? Like said, a betta can do well in small containers if that's what you have to do.
I've kept male bettas in community tank settings (10g) with no "fighting" what so ever. I currently have a group of female bettas in my community 55g. They shove each other around at times, but ignore anything non-betta, unless it's a shrimp, or other tasty bit.
