Would I be overstocked?

Snails do not add much of a bio load, depending on size, but Nerites are OK.
A 2.5 is cycled like any other tank, not harder or easier.
IMO, overstocking is only harmful when the fish and other critters get stressed out by being on top of each other. You can be overstocked with a 10% bioload if you put incompatible fish together. Don't worry too much about the 12% extra bioload - all you need to compensate is a filter that is capable of handling the bioload. You could also simply do water changes more often. How hard can it be in a 2.5 gal tank? You get yourself two pitchers that each holds a gallon, fill one up with freshwater (treat if needed) and carry them both to your tank - fill one up with old water, pour new water in, done.I did. It says am at 112% stocked with 1 betta and 2 zebra nerite snails.

The reason he would know is that he comes to fumigate every Tuesday all the apartments in the building. so you know what I'm looking at getting the 5.5 gallon fish tank. how is it going to know the difference between the 2.5 and 5.5 gallon tank?

It's by appointment. If I see baby roaches I usually buy the baits and other stuff like that myself. I live in a big apartment building so they give us that option. Decided to get a 5.5 gallon tank. Was going to get a 10 gallon tank but that would be obvious that is not a 2.5 gallon.

. I think bettas should always be kept on their own.
Betta "communities" are usually a short term experience. The betta either is too stressed from all of the fish in there and doesn't live out it's lifespan, or is nipped by fin nippers constantly and dies, or kills the other fish.
Imo, it's too great of a risk. The betta "communities" on youtube are often working now, but in the future do they update it by saying it killed all of their fish? No.
As for the stocking, it's fine in a 2.5 imo.
