would like feedback...

I'm a big Eheim user and I've got over 30 of them (I've also got a lot of SunSun's) but I would warn you the 2234 is one of their Ecco range and is probably the 2nd worst product Eheim ever released (apart from their wet/dry's)
for the money I'd buy a SunSun and fill it with excellent Eheim media. Of course if you can afford it a proper Eheim Pro3 2074 or classic 2217 would be much better but stay away from the Ecco's.

well noted, thank you. I think I will go for the sunsuns, and use really good media for it. I know it would be better to spend the extra money and buy the best there is, but unfortunately I will be on a lighter budget! lol

I used to live in Cairns, QLD but moved to Canberra, ACT for my parents work :)

Just out of curiosity... What is your water parameters like? I gave up using various filters and systems. I currently do plants, a back filter on a timer to cycle 4hr / 24 period and a good light source. 3-4W/gal or 60 lumens/gal at 6500K. Once every 3 or 4 months I might vacuum the tank and poor it on my garden. Fish grow well, pants are good, and it stays prity clean.

Pretty much what I was going to say - complaints about Eheim Classics are exceptionally rare. I'd suggest a 2217.
