I really like my apple snail which is about the size of a tennis ball. I want to give it a better home. I have a spare 38 gallon long and was thinking about filling it about 1/3 with water and on half the tank building up a mound of sand that comes out (like a beach). I'll put some rocks, driftwood..etc and and there. figured it would be nice if Mr. Snail can venture out of the water if it wants. I'm going to use a very small pump to make like a ravine in the middle of the sandy area to flow down to the water filled side. I'll put a mesh lid on top to ensure he doesnt get out.

If you are willing to set up an environment that it is going to thrive in, more power to you! I wish others would follow suit.

Wow...a setup like that and you can add a group of red bellied newts, some ADFs, shrimp.......maybe some endlers too !

Sounds like the makings of a very nice river tank Contour ! Go for it !

Don't forget to share the pics !! :D

yeah do it, ITS ALOT OF FUN. im in the making of one right now. But will be useing carved styrofoam as ledges, waterfall, ect. Will be housing a few guppies or blue rams in the 10-15gal of water area, and the land is for frogs or whatever i see thats cool.

My snails have several places to leave the water but never do for more than a few seconds. Don't make a beach area just for the snail, it would look cool but is a waste unless you add some other animals that will use it.

yeah i dont think snails are much of land animals...but the annoying common type snails always swim towards the suface and just stays right on the water surface...wonder if they feed off the current...
