Would this work for aquariums ?

Says it can be used for fish, Rod. Don't see why not. If you get one, let us know how it works. Seems cost effective.

wow i didnt even see it said for fish ........ ok can anyone tell me what kind of bulbs you would use it can take: T8, T10 or T12 bulbs. I dont know anything about bulbs and I have fish only tanks so lighting for plants is not a issue for me. Thanks

I you don't have to get a bulb specifically for plants then I would just get the cheapest 48 inch bulb you can find.

Agreed. The fish don't care much. The only thing you'd need to worry about would be if you had plants.

These fixtures are perfect for placement on top of any reptile or amphibian cage with a screen top, any fish or turtle aquarium, reptarium cages or anywhere fluorescent lighting is needed.

Should work fine with some T8's.

can anyone tell me what these different bulb sizes mean like whats the difference between them? T8, T10 or T12 bulbs are T12 brighter than T8 ?

i ran down to the home depot and for 10.00 bought a dual 48" light. works well with teh t12's from phillips that are rated for daylight/6500k.

Mike

The bulbs' diameters are measured in 1/8 inch increments. T8 = 8/8 (1 inch), T12 12/8 (1 1/2 inch). T 5 have a different pin size than T8,10, 12s & can't be used in the same fixture. Smaller diameters allow more light down into the tank with good reflecters

Also, smaller diameters are more efficient, I believe. Don't quote me on that, but I think it's one of the reasons T5s are so hot right now.
