Wrinkled new growth on giant hygro

You need to dose Potassium. the regular flourish does not have potassium in it. Seachem has a flourish potassium as well. I have giat hygrow and had the same problem. Increased the amount of potassium I was dosing and the problem went away. You can remove the damaged leaves because even if you start dosing the potassium the damged leaves will not heal. So it is best to just emove them so the rest of the plant get all the nutrients.

I agree after researching this symptom. However, the only question I have is... why did these plants grow great for 2 months and now all of the sudden i am seeing this?

they got bigger... and hungrier.

ah ok

Any other way i can dose potassium? I don't think my local stores carry flourish potassium.

They do have Tetra Florapride though, which i believe is potassium and iron. Would that work?

In the fertilizer section of most DIY or Hardware stores you can pick up either potash (KCl) or Salt Peter (KNO3).

You can also order the KNO3 it online at www.aquariumfertilizer.com. Buying dry fert's is the cheapest and best in the long run. You can order over a years supply for what it costs for 2 bottles of flourish.

Potassium is also available as Nu-Salt, in the spice aisle of your grocery store (cost $1.49 for a shaker that will last a long time). I read somewhere that a good goal is 20ppm -- you can do the math for your tank.

Anyone correct me if I'm mistaken.

^ It all depends upon you local water conditions, substrate, and other fertilizing regimen.

If you have higher K+ in your local water there will be no need to add extra. It is usually best to fertilize a decent general mix and then add in extra nutrients IF deficiencies appear.

The potash just gets dissovled in water, then add to the tank?
