Hi,

To begin with I am not a really frequant member here. I am a frequant member at fishforums.net.

Onto my trouble.

I am a 16 YO male and no newbie when it comes to aquariums. Either SW or FW or BW.

Ok I had setup a 20 gallon community with 20 gallons of water from my cichlids 72 G tank and took an entire Fluval 204 filter with media onto the 20 gallon. As well as a half pound of top layer sand.

This was done last friday and the cycle is done.
Water parameters are

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- 10
ph - 7.4
Temp - 80 F

Now the fish are healthy and I only feed small amounts twice a day. I hover above the tank and wait for the fish to finish eating. And I net out the extra food. Now my problem is I have got these really small particles in the aquarium, I have tried using floss but to no luck. I was thinking of purchasing something like accu-clear. To clump everything for the filter. Also these particles make the aquarium look cloudy.

I know this is not a bacteria bloom since I barely feed enough to make extra waste, cycle is done, and the fact I barely leave my lights on for an hour or 2 each day. I can't seem to get to the root of this problem. PLEASE HELP ASAP I have never seen or heard of this kind of problem.

well you could always buy a diatom filter. That would clear it up right away and Im pretty sure it could be a bacteria bloom as overfeeding isnt always the cause. How long has the tank been set up? I went through this in a 30 gal for 7 months and what finally took care of it was just leaving the tank alone for two months no water changes of filter changes. If you really want it clean now though I would just buy the diatom filter you can use it on all your tanks as it only has to run once a week or so for a couple hours.
Hears a link to some Diatom filters on bigals

A diatom filter costs a lot of money. It has been set up Since FRi Februar 24th, how many water changes do I need to do?

By poser I hoep you mean the sand? Ya makes a cichlid tank look nice.

never mind i called Jose my LFS guy and asked him what the hell was happening. He said you got a bacteria bloom cuz you added too much fish. Even though your cycles is done the bacteria colonies need to catch up. He also said try not to use chems like Cycle, because it would have been much better 2 weeks ago when you started it.

Also do no more water changes for 2 weeks. Feed sparingly and such.

So I thank you guys for your troubles and my self idiotism ( is that even a word?). So I will just wait this out for a week and a half or so.

I guess I forgot you could still get a bacteria bloom.

Also I have the good fluval bio balls witht he pourous surface and carbon with foam and poly pads
