i just picked up some crickets and freeze-dried mealworms from petsmart for scooter, and moments after dumping a few crickets and a few mealworms into the tank, i spy this thing crawling around the tank:

wth is this? is it safe to leave in with him? or should i take it out? i'm freaked! :22_yikes:

Dermestid beetle larva? If you want something a little more definitive, try this...

I don't know if it will turn on Scooter or not. They will prey upon live crickets if hungry enough, but I really don't know if that extends to live vertebrates or only dead ones.

I hate these things. We are getting them all the time now with our crickets at work especially since we started getting our crickets from "The Bug Company".
