You really need to get rid of these fish. You say you're attached to them but be prepared; in that tank they might die sooner rather then later.

:dance2: Spell-check or a dictionary, please! :dance2:

a 5 gallon is much to small for tiger barbs. they need to be in a group of at least 12 to distribute aggression within the school, not even considering if there are other fish in the tank. if you want to keep other fish with tiger babrs, you need to make the school even bigger.

zebra danios are pretty active and also like to be in groups, and a 5 gallon is just to small for them.

you need to get rid of both of your fish, and when you do, you can get a dwarf gourami for your tank, but it will be by itself. a 5 gallon is also to small for corydoras or any tetras except neons or cardinals.

Yeah hon... 5 gallons isn't a lot of space and both barbs and danios like to be in groups. And even dwarf gouramis need more space than a fiver. Since you can't get them more buddies in such a tiny tank... and since the barb might make lunch of your gourami's fins... it'd be better to take them back and maybe set up with a betta or a puffer and a couple of cories to keep them company. Then everyone's happy and you have fish you can enjoy for a long time because they will be happier and healthier than the ones you have now will be.

It's better for the fish this way.

dude, i'm totally not just gonna return all my fish. wut if someone jsut said....return ur dogs! or return ur parents! would you? NO fish are the same way.

I'M NOT RETURNING ANY and i've decided on a corie (probably) or a tetra.

they've been living longer than a year, thank you :-)

do not get any more fish. if you feel you MUST get something, get shrimp. your fish can certianly live for quite some time like that and you tank is not OS IMO, but are they happy? no. zebra danios in pair are not happy fish, nor are tiger barbs alone. if you love them you will return them.

I don't understand why you are asking advice and them scorning folks when they tell you the god-honsest truth.

the tiger barb will kill anything else you put in the tank, even another tiger barb. a pair is not enough to spread out aggression. the smaller/less dominant one will be harassed.

do not get corydoras either. they need to be in groups and will also be harassed by the tiger barb.

You wouldn't be able to add any more fishes. Also, the fishes that you have in that tank would need to have group of them. This would only be possible in a larger tank. If you have a friend that would be able to take care of them until you have a larger tank, you would be able to add more fishes then. If not, then I'm afraid that you would need to give them up.
