Personally, I learned that money doesn't equal anything. I gave up on a well-paying field to do something I loved and it paid whatever it paid. It wasn't about money, it was about personal satisfaction. Though making less money, I was far happier. Why take the money if you are going to be miserable?

Standing on a platform and spewing information gets old fast. However, it is a good experience.

I agree that they way to start is Pharm to pay off debt build a nest egg and then transfer out to academia or critical care. Most of us have to start bottom move up to make money. You have a chance to start with money then do what you love.

Take the pay. Build up the reserves. Get some different experience in the Pharma field and THEN head to academia. The research that you do might give you additional "prof cred" and make you more confident in front of a classroom.

Either way, it's terrific that you have so many options! Good luck! :)

I agree here....it sounds like you would enjoy the job, but for that kind of money, even if it means sucking it up for a few years and being able to get loans paid off, purchase a house, and get a good start on retirement/savings, it will make it a lot easier 5-10 years down the road to move into something you really enjoy. Also, with more experience, you'll probably have a much clearer idea of what exactly that might be.
