Ihave some xmas moss in my 55 gal, and im always washing it b/c over a short time(about 12 hours) it goes from green to light brown, im either thinking its the lack of good filtration or the clouds of dirt from the aquasoil, now i know im not supposed to move the aquasoil around b/c the cloudiness but then how would i possibly do a pwc with vacuum? how can i get my moss to stay green and spread? this is also happening to my bolbitis and i cant afford to lose it.

does it still keep nitrates low?bc all the waste sink where i wont get it,is there a way to encourage its growth???does co2 help?

How much do you have? I found that if kept in large clumps it would turn brown. Spreading it out seems to help.

naw its not that much, about a softball size when compressed, but I did spread it out all over my driftwood,so its actually alot of small spread out moss

You probably don't have enough water circulation, all types of mosses traps dirt and poop if you don't have enough filtration to take them out.

i was thinking about buying a bio wheel filter for tanks up to 75gallons, but will i lose all my co2 with all the aeration the filter makes
