XP2 media?

I am setting up an XP2 and trying to decide the most effective way to set it up if it is the only filter on the tank. The tank will be either 28, 29 or 36 gallons (depending on where I decide to put the XP2).

I have two different ideas:

2-20 ppi foams
-------------- bottom basket
2-30 ppi foams
____________
matrix
--------------
bio-chem zorb or purigen top basket
fine filter foam

or

1-20 ppi foam
1-30 ppi foam
-------------- bottom basket
matrix
____________
matrix
--------------
bio-chem zorb or purigen top basket
fine filter foam

Any thoughts on which is better? Would 2 foams (stock in XP2) instead of 4 (stock in XP3 & XP4) be sufficient?

i just mainly use foam pads and bio balls in my canisters.

I've never personally made a big issue over media...if its there, the bacteria will colonize.

Just my own philosophy on the issue.

But I understand why you would ask...you should be fine with just two foam pads IMHO.
