well do what rb said basically take it a part and put it back together again. only time i ever heard sounds when there was air in the system.
xP3 Being Really Noisy! anyway to quiet it down?

I haven't had my xp all that long but I found filling the canister with much water was NOT a good idea. It seemed to make it not work with lots of noise & the syphon couldn't start. It doesn't seem right but twice I've dumped out the water & presto! it worked. I thought priming like HOB would be good but no.

Have you taken the motor assembly off, and opened the twist-off door which leads to the impellar? Is there anything stuck inside there, or is the impellar shaft damaged/bent? Seems weird that it would be making noise... I have an XP3 and an XP2 running side by side, and they're very quiet. Nothing more than a very mild hum.
i tried taking it apart and everytime i do all of the water spills everywhere! i must be doing something wrong when trying to open it, but i follow the instructions exactly! i looked at the impeller and nothing is wrong with it. i dumped out the water, but the humming is still there. it has gotten a little quieter, but it hasn't become unnoticable.
it quieted down A LOT, but my dad still complains that he can here it in the next room and 2 rooms down (all have open walls) while reading the newspaper.
