Y is my PH so high?

I know that they can probably live in 7.4 ph and its good that its stable, but im just worried about when i change the water. The PH of my water after being left out over night is 6.5 and if my tank is 7.4, isnt that a big difference in ph everytime i change water?

My tap water is 8.5 and the LFS keeps all their tanks with R/O water. A flat 7 PH.

I acclimate my fish my placing them in a pitcher and drip the tank water in them. Usually takes about 30-40 minutes.

I have acclimated many fish of many different types with no problems.

PH difference between 6.5 and 7.4 is less than 10 times as alkaline as the lower PH.

A difference between 7.0 and 8.5 is, I believe, about 50 times more alkaline!

So one fifth as much difference between your change compared to mine(less actually). One fifth of 40 minutes(max time of my acclimatation) is 8 minutes. At 50% the PH of the water will only change half as much. So cut acclimation time in half.

4 minutes.

Does it take that long for you to fill the tank back up during a water change?

Then no worries!
