Hallo hallo,

I find crayfish at LFS called, mmm... Red Claw Yabby, maybe Yabbie? The store not provide much info about it, but I would like to find info so I can procure safely. Any one know scientific name for this cray, so I can look up info for correct animal?

Thanks!

Also, I apologize for my speaking. English not my first language, not my second either! :D

Yabbie or Yabby is an Australian common name for a few Cherax sp. crayfish. The 'Red Claw' leads me to believe it's a Cherax quadricarinatus. There's plenty of information online on care and such. There are also many here who keep and or breed them.

I have one,

Yea, like pixl8r said, Yabby/Yabbie is an Aussie term for most of their crayfish. Red Claws are usually quads, though I've seen a few other species be sold under that name (very infrequently though).

Run through my Aussie/Indo album, I have a bunch of quad pictures there (juveniles, sub-adults, adults)... see if they match up in any sort of similarity.

Oh, your name/username... Sprechen Sie Deutsch oder sind Sie österreichisch, vielleicht? Servus, schatz!
