Finally - my 37G is done cycling, so this weekend I'll get to buy some more fish :D. Since the eclipse3 hood system creates quite a bit of a current, the original plan (angels) had to be scrapped and the new plan has an Asian theme:

  • Tiger Barbs
  • Giant Danios
  • Yoyo / Pakistani Loach(es)
I think it'll work just fine, but just to make sure - after all I'm still quite the noob - I have some questions:

  1. How many of each should I get? I was thinking 8-10 barbs, 4-5 danios and 1-2 loaches.
  2. Are these species suitable for my tank size (37G, 30x12x22); specifially the loach(es)? And if not, what would be suitable substitues?
  3. Do I need to add a fourth species for algae control? And if yes, what?
Thank you so much for your help!

I don't know about the rest of your questions. However I do have a suggestion about the algae cleanup. I highly suggest otos for algae they are great, and they do not get big so you dont have to worry about them taking up space. And you might also consider getting some cory's for gravel, i have heard they do wonders.
