Uh, yea Curtis... I didn't give her any additional advice because Tseng DID cover it all. Tseng always DOES cover it all. I never said he wasn't accurate! And I think it's great that he does go above and beyond on most answers... I just don't feel that being rude is necessary.

Not necessary but one could argue how much truth there is in that statement. He's not the first and certainly not the last to be frustrated by answering the same question from the same person. But you have to admit even with the added frustration he still went above and beyond with the info and typed it all out. So many times I see replies that someone just does a generic search on the forum and posts a link to the results. While helpful that is, it's not above and beyond.

I guess what I'm trying to say is he may be brash but the level of expertise and the fact that he takes the time to be hear and still help people makes up for it. Get some thicker skin and stop taking every little comment so personally.

Ok, this will be my last post in this thread because, quite frankly, I'm over it, and I did not take his comment personally because it was not directed at me.

What I am trying to get across here is that I understand Tseng's frustration, but he always has the right to skip over a thread and not reply if he feels he's already helped the person before. I have read a number of Tseng's replies in other threads too, and it seems that he's ALWAYS cranky and rude, it just happened to be THIS thread that I replied to him about it.

If you were a newbie looking for help, and you finally post a question in a forum like this just to get blasted by someone, anyone, that's going to keep you from asking more questions or cause you to leave the forum entirely... and that's not helping the newbie's fish any.

All I was saying was why not tone it down a little?? If he doesn't want to, he doesn't have to, but why sit at home with high blood pressure hell bent on letting some newbie have it? Just move on to the next thread and share your obviously extensive knowledge without being rude!

Ok, now... lets all group hug and go get a latte, ok? :coffee2:

Puppy - I know that this is going to sound cold and heartless - but as a fellow guppy owner, have you considered NOT protecting your baby fry? I've read some research (don't ask me where - couldn't possibly remember!) that seemed to suggest that those fry that DO make it through babyhood (fryhood?) in a tank with adults tend to be much hardier. And those that don't make it? Well - they're good protein for your pregnant mums and you're contributing in a small enclosed ecosystem way to evolution!

I know it sounds bad - but I just have some javamoss and plants in my tank - to give the little fellows a fighting chance and then I leave them to it. Most of the time I have around 10 small fry and 10 adolescents along with the adults. And I still have to trek down to the LFS regularly to swap for food..

You know Ripples that is some great advice. I mean it sounds cold but people use feeder fish and in the wild, only the strong survive. That's how it works. Plus it's a good way to have your young fry, but not have them overwhelm you.
 
Thanks SOOO much to everyone who actually gave me helpful information! And to everyone just being kind and sticking up for me i appreciate it! All though..even the rude ppl had some helpful information!!

I have decided to set up an extra 10 gallon to put the babies in for now! Other than that..when i do start getting 100's of babies ripples doesn't have such a bad idea..after all, when i got back from vaca. I did find that one fry who is still extremely healthy because it survived in the tank with all the big fishies! And my LFS did tell me they would be happy to give me store credit for the babies when they grow a little bit!

Does anybody here know how long it will be before the babies get color or grow tails??

So far..ALL the babies are very healthy and all alive..I've been feeding them brine shrimp that i made in a shrimpery (freshly hatched) crushed up flakes, and chopped up freezdried bloodworms.

Generally 2-3 months to get to a sellable size Puppy. Though they can become sexually mature before that, so make sure you start separating the males and females as soon as you can tell the difference, the method you'll need to use is by looking at the Anal fin. Females will have a full triangular shaped fin, while the males will be pointed and eventually develop into a gonopodium (sp?) and will basically look like a solid fin ray rather than a fin.
