Yellow Lab Question

LOL me too.. Thats alright we both have a place in hell waiting for us..

Alright I kinda figured that, just pick the best fry out and go from there sort of thing...what about ways to stimulate breeding?

For mbunas like the yellow labs, it is easier if you have a breeding group of the same species (4-6 fishes at least); with a ratio of at least twice the number of females than males. Clean water is also important; so weekly water changes of at least 25% may help. Frequently fishes breed shortly after a water change. High quality food can put the fishes in the breeding mood, too.
Beyond that, you should have the proper environment for the mbunas: adequate temp., plenty of rockwork, adequate substrate and water parameters: pH and hardness.

i heard that putting colder water into the tank during water changes can set off breeding. proper food, breeding ratio are important as well

Awesome Info Thanks alot efors and austinpetemo, I was just about to do my water changes right now so I will try the colder water trick...I dontn have a problem with my electric blue haps breeding in the same tank, so I am pretty sure the water is fine and everything...maybe the girls are just not his type...

maybe your male wears opposite sex repellent lol.

You are welcome, my friend! Good luck in your breeding attempts.

well just as an update, i have had one female with one or 2 mouth fulls of eggs now, but see likes to spit them out before they turn to fry, and the last time I caught her with eggs I tried to catch her and put the eggs into a tumbler, but the other fish got to the eggs before I could remove them...3rd time is the charm I hope

Ahh she will get it down sooner or later, good looking out though..
