Hey everyone,

Can I get some advice on what to add...

I have 4 labs and 2 rustys (plan to add another 2 soon), 1 kenyi (ill probably trade once it turns yellow)... whats another fish that will balance out and make a nice assortment of colour.. im aiming for 3 dif kinds.. totaling 10 in the long run (I have a friend who can swap sexes for me once they are sexable).. for a 46G.

Thanks!

I would squash the kenyi and go with acei's they have the yellow and blues your looking for plus kenyi's are rather aggressive than the current residents you have and could pose a problem for you

With that in mind rusty's and yellows are your more docile mbuna and acei's would fit the bill with maintainable residents, but do remember they are african cichlids and every now and then you will get a rogue fish.

pseudotropheus acei - acei, iodotropheus sprengerae - rusty cichlid, labidochromis caeruleus - yellow lab..

With these 3 species i am referring to you, it should be a sweet setup..

Pseudotropheus Saulosi are cool as well and stay a tad bit smaller, females are yellow and males are blue but both are born yellow..

I agree. The Acei's like to hang out in the upper regions of the tank, one of the reasons I've always liked them, aside from the fact that they're fairly mellow.

Also consider aceis the best option, especially if ya don't have a back up tank for any that get too aggressive. I'm looking at yellow labs, rusties, and wild-type blue socolofi for a mbuna tank in the future. That could be a hit and miss proposition, though.

How about Metriaclima Callainos Cobalt Blue? I'm still in the planning stages for my first cichlid tank so maybe somebody with experience with them can comment as to yes or no.

Metriaclima Sp. can be quite feisty and could pose a problem but again if you do decide on them go the route with 2 males to 5 females so they will aggressively bother each other for jockey rights.

4 Yellow Labs + 4 Rusty's + 7 M. Cobalt's would be an interesting setup it could work as long as you rock out the tank for hidy spots for retreats.

Acei's would still be a better solution for this docile mbuna setup, but hay its your tank and your call my friend enjoy.. maybe post some photo's when you get the chance..
