yellow shrimp looses her eggs again.

hi i have 3 yellow shrimp. 2female and 1 male about 5 days ago she had about 6 to 10 eggs in her and now she has 1 egg right now this is like the 3rd time she has done this.the other female has never had eggs that i know of they have there own 5gal tank..with jave moss and alot of duck weed.does anyone know what i can do i have had them for about 7 mounths now. thanks all. karen
 
what are you feeding? what is your maintenance routine? water parameters? Do you have your intake covered on the filter?
 
i use sponge filters in all my shrimp tanks, ifeed the HBH foods, like lobester and crab bites.frog and todpole. too. i I also feed rabbit pelltes about 2 times aweek, i have just started a new food for them , the Cyclop-eeze granules.
And i just check my ph and it is 7.6 or more thats as high as it goes on my chart. so iam thinking i need to do a water change to start with? right.
 
water changes never hurt. Do you know what your ammonia nitrite and nitrate readings are?

I do at least once weekly wc's on all my invert tanks, sometimes 2x weekly as they eat sparingly and are prone to having planaria and other little pests.

Is it all possible that the eggs could have hatched and you have not seen any babies? Or have you seen the dropped eggs?
 
no the eggs was not in her long enough to hatch,and i do not know the other reading on my water for that test kit is old. i will try just to see what it says.
 
sometimes they drop eggs that are not fertile, and other times just because of new mothers, just havent gottenthe knack, my yellows had a few egg for a while then after a couple times they have full clutches, give it time, also maybe you don't have a mature male or is steril? anything can happen also do water changes as they like clean water, what is the temp. there in?
 
i try to do my w/c at least once a week or so..but i did miss 2 weeks... not good i know. but i had been adding new water as it got low in there tank.most of the time i do about 25%wc.and temp is 76-78 on most all of my inverts.i only have the 1 male and i got them all at the same time and they were young then but they are older now for i have had them like 7 months.
