yellow tang doesnt look right

it took me about 3 months to get a hippo tang to a healthy looking fish. most tangs dont put on weight at a very high rate because of the lower quality of food they eat. lets face it most seaweed/nori/algae sheets are not very nutritious for the amount of food it takes to support a growing tang.

Yeah, but you can enrich them to get more vitimans etc. which in turn should provide better nourishment for the tang and hopefully a healthy and fast growing specimen.

my tang has been having problems for a long time. it looks like i got it under control, but his color is still off. i'll probably do another antibiotic treatment if he will not improve with vitamins and lots of nori. i don't know how much time he needs. i'll just watch him closely and make sure that he is not getting worse. i did hear that some sort of parasite can cause spots.

i have been feeding him lots of food and nori until he can't eat anymore. at the moment he doesn't look thing. his belly finely looks full. everything else still the same, ribs are still visible. i tried metronidazol but i don't think that i got any into him, today i'll try again.

Mysis,

It was a secondary bacterial infection from the parasite. When immunity is weakened the fish can be susceptible to their environment. Bacteria live with the fish everyday of their lives.

The red blotchiness started around the back end of the tang. The fish was thinning and lumpy. It had what looked like strings or antennas coming out of the fish. The exact organism I don’t know.

Badroma1,

Don’t feed too much of the medicine. It does a fine job of killing parasites along with some -bacteria. That is great your fish is turning around for the better. Do get Selcon. It’s vitamins for fish.
