so my yellow watchman in my 29g seems to have gone mad. he is trying to eat the true perc and purple pseudochromis in the tank. i am not around the tank a lot (it's in the sunroom, a room i'm not often in) but when i feed the fish he tries to eat not only the food i drop in but the other 2 fish. the clown fish is mostly able to get away, tho the other day the goby grabbed him and pulled him to the back of the tank. the "purple guy" however is not so lucky. he is a mess. at first i thought he was sick but now im pretty sure it's all just from the goby! he's missing most of his back fin now and has to dart around to get his food and then hide back in a hole in the LR. at first i thought the goby was just going blind and was grabbing at the other fish on accident. i don't know how old he is, i got him with the tank and he is big - about 4 inches long. but now im not so sure..? sometimes i still think he is going blind but he seems to be able to see my dog outside the tank and he can definitely see me. but he has a hard time getting food sometimes, and it drives me nuts because i feel like i have to overfeed the tank so that he'll get enough food. im at wits end! i always thought that the true perc was the meanest fish in that tank after killing off a baby false perc i tried to add in and then a pygmy cherub angel. then a 6-line wrasse went MIA... i thought the clown was responsible for that guy too, but maybe the goby took care of him! i don't know what the guy that owned these fish before i did (i put the purple pseudochromis in the tank) put in their wheaties but man they sure are meanies!!!!
i guess the point of this post isn't for advice really because what can you say to me..? i am not going to get rid of these fish (see my blog for details) but more or less to say - even yellow watchman gobies can be MEAN SOB'S!!!! and are IMO not suited for the small aquarium. there is something to be said for that face tho.... :)

Wow, that is crazy! I hope my watchman goby doesn't go crazy!
To feed him I have a feeding stick that I put a chunk of shrimp or whatever else I'm feeding and put it near him and he swims up and grabs it off the stick. I used to drop food to him but it became way too hard and the other fish would always try and take it.

Wow, that is a new one to me.. serious mental problems with that fish. I hear Dr. Phil is always looking for crazies.. he may bail your fish out of your tank if you call.. ;)

What about that Pet Psychic lady on Animal Planet, maybe you should give her a call? :grinyes:

Maybe if you try training him to eat food (like a nice piece of squid or shrimp) off a pair of forceps, he'll get a) used to that and b) nice and full, and he'll leave the other fish alone?
