Yellow water

Hi
My water is clear from the front but when you look in from the sides it is a yellow colour. Do any of you guys know what it causing it and how i can get rid of it.

Carbon is probably a safe bet.

As an aside, do you wash your hands after buttering...oh nevermind.

if you run phosphate removers in your filter they can stain your water.

Oldish water with MH over it will turn yellowish. I believe the UV? or bright light acts on proteins in the water.

Run carbon for a little while and it should clear it up

I agree with the carbon usage, since that will be the easiest way. That is one reason why I use lots of it continuously. The compounds are natural tannins from algal matter and the like--UV would actually help break them down, not create them, which is one reason why UV sterilizers can keep water so clear (the same goes for ozone).

I saw ozone being used on a mini tank tour this weekend. And you're right, amazingly clear water.
