yes, another stocking question

if it's loaches you're after, I reccomend picking up some of the sweet zebras they're got at petzoo. I think they've still got a lot left. make sure to buy about 4-5.

I absolutely refuse to buy fish at PetZoo. They have the worst tanks in town... worse than even Wal Mart, as difficult as that might be to believe. I really like The Reef... Teri and the folks there are very helpful, and really know their stuff. Animal House even has a decent selection, and their tanks always look clean and the fish happy and healthy.

We ended up getting 6 corycats... 2 julii, 2 sterbai and 2 paleatus. I think I'm going to go back and get one more of each, as they're not schooling as the folks at our LFS said they would. I've noticed that one of the checkerboards is chasing the paleatus' around a bit, and I'm hoping that by adding one more of each they'll stick together a bit more and the barbs won't mess with them. If not, I may have to take the paleatus back and get a couple more of the julii and sterbai.

I'm perplexed by the cories, honestly. I've always thought of them as a bottom dweller, but they are spending a lot of time at mid tank, and even darting to the surface quite a bit. I was concerned that they might be going up for air, but the rest of the fish in the tank are fine. Is this normal cory behavior?

Hi,

Thats normal Cory behavior for ya.

Cory Lover

They would be alot happier with more of each type. :) It would have been better to get a big group of one type, but now that you have 3 types, just increase each group.

Enjoy them! Cories are awesome.

??? really?
they always seem fine to me. i bought 4 rasboras there and they are very healthy and have been for 4 months. last time I checked there (last week) most of their tanks were healthy. they are also the cheapest place in town.

animal house? never heard of there.

the reef is the best place hands down, though, even if they are expensive.

Animal House is on International in between Old Seward and C. And I don't mind paying a bit more at the Reef. They've treated us quite well.

We took back the paleatus and got one more each julii and sterbai. Everyone now seems pretty happy. I really like the look of the julii... very striking with the striping and spotting together.

Funny that you would say that. I noticed the similarities between the two last night while doing some reading up on behavior and the like. Lo and behold... they are three-lines.

Here's a picture of them, btw... if I can figure this out.
