Lithargic discus not eating(2 new fish added)

I have a 90 gal fresh and 6 discus, with various schooling fish. I recently purchaed the last 2 of the 6 ( and tangerine and a turk). The turk is very thin and not eating(actually it seems like in the last day most of them are barely eating. The turks lips are white looking and very sedaterest of the discus seem like they are gasping. I wate change 2 times a week, have a 9 watt in line uv filter, water seems balanced, but all fish seem very lithargic and i am concerned about the health of the rest of the fish anhy advice or help would be appreciated.

BTW~ temp is about 82

thanks

i would post any info you have no matter how trivial it may seem,

there are plenty of very smart people who frequent this forum and they will help you once you give them all the pertinent info

:)

I'm just curious why you went in and edited your thread title? So far two people have asked you for information that is necessary to try and help you, so why create a rather offputting title? These folks are friendly, helpful, and very informative when it comes to all things aquaria (amongst many other talents). Ever since I came in as a noob, I have received warm, helpful, and fairly quickly-answered responses.

Now, don't think I'm "attacking" you--I'm just wondering. Guess I'm a bit protective of my fishy world here.

About the only thing I am certain with about discus is they require the very best quality of water and are extremely sensitve to nitrates.

If I were you I would do an immmediate water change of at least 50%. I know some people who keep discus do daily 100% water changes to keep top quality water.

Have never kept dicus, but i believe 82 would be on the low end. Some very experienced discus keepers have suggested 84-85 and have suggested bumping it up to 86-88 at the first sign of trouble. Try posting on cichlid forum and put discus in the title. Some of the resident discus gurus will help you out. You might want to have all the parameters asked for above, since they will surely ask for them.

Mooman is correct 82 is on the low end for discus. boost the temp to around 84-86 as a norm..when discus are in trouble bump the temp..they can easily handle 90+

also make sure you are changing water frequently..discus , especially young discus , do best in clean water and small feedings several times per day.

keep an eye on them..
are you using any carbon in the filters??

many discus breeders don't recommend the use of carbon
