Selective breeding is fairly close to GM, but not so close in other ways. Selective breeding could actually have happened in the wild but I think we have just sped up the process a lot and given it the opportunity to happen.
It is a wierd concept selective breeding to achieve the nicest fish we can. Many people think different things are nice though so there will always be discrepancy.
I live in Tasmania, Australia, and our state tries it's hardest to be "organic". Of coarse we can not be entirely non-gm as we have orange carrots. A lot of people these days don't even know that originally carrots were red. Now they are all orange. Simply because people would more readily accept orange carrots over red. Did you see them try and make purple broccoli? Most people freak out over a purple broccoli because it is so un-natural looking, and I have not seen it since.
I do try and get as natural as I can, in everything I buy in life. I hope by supporting this way I am also making a difference to our planet.
Good luck to us all.
