I was out at a pet store today to pick up more fish food, and saw this betta I just fell in love with. So I got it, and a tank for it (a 10 gallon tank) I had aged water to use in it (8 gallons I have to want till tomorrow to put the rest of the needed water to fill up the tank, but it is 90% filled now, and I stole some rocks from another tank and some java mass (for the bacteria for the new tank)

My question is I want to put the 2 tanks next to each other, and I am wondering if that is ok for the fish, or should I put some cardboard between the tanks so they do not see each other? right now they are at the at the sides of the tank near each other showing off at each other. I know it is natural for them want to fight should they not see each other, or is it ok for them to see each other.

It will be fine if they see each other. No harm done. If they keep flaring they will eventually stop when they get bored and will be used to each other. Keeping cardboard between them will be fine as well. Either way there's no harm done.

if any one want to see the bettas see http://www.mikeoconnor.net/Movies/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=12 I appologize for the poor lighting it does not do much to capture the color of Stroustrup (the betta on the right). Now I just need a geeky name for the new betta (I will accept any suggestions for the new bettas name, to give you an idea about names, one is Stroustrup, and my betta in my office is Turing, so keep in mind I want a name geeks will get)

Don't worry about keeping your bettas next to each other. They'll be fine, in fact...mine are always active and interesting. I have them all around each other and they never get bored and dull.

When you first introduce them they flare alot and make faces at each other, but before long they settle down and will only occasionally flare. they are certainly more active with a partner next door, than a betta who is all by itself all the time.

:D Bettas rock.

Just got these three pretties last night from Walmart. I think they were quite the steal as all three are very active and showy. The cups are temporary, they're just waiting for the silicon in their tank (10 gal divided into thirds) to cure (day after tomorrow).

The local petco and walmart doesn't have any nice bettas at all, or maybe they are so stressed out and in bad water conditions that they look not good at all. The only bettas that look nice around here are the ones at the LFS. Ocassionally I will see a very pretty one, but I won't be able to get another one since I don't have any extra tanks.
