im going to just start the 304 for now, to seed it for thanksgiving tank setting up.

i need new hoses. the clear ones i bought are way too stiff i cant even bend it to get the input and output nozzles in the tank.

so since im buying the standard fluval hoses from le internet. im wondering.
in the picture it seems like each end has some sort of nozzle on it? that cofuses me. can the hoses be cut? how long are they? do i need buy actually buy one for the output and one for the input?

i went to home depot and looked at their ribbed hoses for ponds and they seemed really really stiff too. are the fluval hoses really stiff too?

have you bought different hoses for your canister filters? what kind?

(i bought a 404 and 304 for $125 on craigslist. i know i know stupid, but motors work and they dont leak so i KNOW they can work)

thank you all so much for putting up with me :)

I always use the hoses made by the same company as the filter itself.

If this is what you're looking at:
http://www.hagen.com/canada/english/aquatic/product.cfm?CAT=1&SUBCAT=117&PROD_ID=01200150010101
...then what you need is just one of them. They're come as being 8 feet long, so all you need is to cut them in half. Use your Fluval manual to determine where to cut it.

The rubber part on the end is the part that connects to the canister filter itself (where the nuts hold it in place). When you cut the other end, you'll need some of them: http://www.hagen.com/canada/english/aquatic/product.cfm?CAT=1&SUBCAT=117&PROD_ID=01200170010101
...with those, you force the hose that you just cut into them, and then you can attach your intake tube and your output nozzel to them.

Hope that helps,

wow. i have never seen that rubber adaptor before. i couldnt find it in the manual when i was doing a "checklist" of the parts i do have.

crazy. that may account for the lack of suction i have now

thank you so much...
