I am on my way in making a 4 gallon something that will be overflowed into by my 55. This box is only 7.5 inches deep, 12 in long, and 7.5 wide.

I was wondering what kind of lights I should use over it to keep soft corals or aiptaisia anemones (not both at the same time)

At home depot they sell a 40 watt ballast and I was wondering If 13 watt pc's x 3 would be sufficient or too much light for the corals.

I am confused because watts per gallon is out the window on a tank this size

Also any suggestions for newbie corals?

Ummm, you want to have lighting that will actually support Aiptasia? Wow that would be a first, it would mean 0 fish and 0 inverts other then the Aiptasia.

Good newbie corals include anthelia, star polyps, and most mushrooms. I have no idea about how well that lighting would work, but keep in mind that the ballast has to be matched to the lamps. In other words, if it doesn't say on the ballast that it will fire 3 13 watt lamps, it probably won't.

ok thanks
speaking of aiptasia, this would be contained in a 4 gallon container-sorta like a refugium- and no fish would be in it
