you can pick 1 cichlid what species?

There are far too many cichlids to choose from. IMHO, oscars are the most boring of them all. Watch this jurupari video and tell me if you still think oscars are the most interesting.

That is amazing! I want a tank of those!

Love, Love, Love those Juruparis! I would love to have those OR some of these babies, someday....(I have a fascination w/ the Earth Eaters...)

*edit* add name - Threadfin Geophagus (Acarichthys heckelii)

Or these...I keep going back to this fish page on liveaquaria...one day! :headbang2:

my black convict is great.
i never knew fish would "recognize" a person, but mine seems to since he swims to the front of the tank whenever i am near.
awesome fish.

Seeing as I've only ever owned kribs (yep, a newbie) for cichlids, I can't really comment on anything else. But, I like kribs. They are a nice size so that they can fit in almost any tank, they are easy to breed, and they are pretty good community fish. I'd have to pick kribs, based on my slim experience.

They are colorful, fun to watch, and easy to care for. Plus, fairly easily available but few people that I know have heard of them. Yeah, I'd pick kribs. I might pick a different cichlid a few years down the road, but for now, kribs are it babe.
