Haha, I cant start my week without a mouthful of fish crap. Its what gets me out of bed in the mornings.
LOL!
I love my fishies, but not so much that I want to get to know their wastes intimately!

I take offense to your last comment! I am just as capable of being as stupid as you are, and I have the wet carpet and bruised arse ta prove it! :D

I don't take offense, but I do soak my carpet with frequency (damm that hose, it's alive!!!) and busting butt on the floor??? I think I have permanent bruises!!
However, I did figure out pretty fast how to get the siphon going without havng to suck fish waste (the TB thing freaked me out!!!) :duh: Stupid is as stupid does.

ACK! What TB thing?? I am a severe hypochondriac, in fact, I have blocked webMD on my computer. I was fully convinced that I had malaria a few years back...having never left the lovely East Coast.

oh, honey, you don't want to know, in that case. it freaked me out and i'm a fish scientist.

I hope, for your sake, that you're only half kidding about the hypochondriac thing and that it's not really a problem :) Your story about blocking WebMD and malaria are cute, though.

I'm mostly kidding (per usual). But I did consider malaria, even if it was merely a "get off of work for a day" thought. When I was in college I think my entire class contracted whatever debilitating disease we learned about though. "Headache? Fatigue? Irritability?" YES! Yes I have whatever it is you're selling!

But seriously, back to this TB thing...

hrm... i *almost* never get water in my mouth, and i have a ~4gallon bucket.... so i don usually spill the water either... (so i get to point and laugh :joke: )

but on the subject of tubes and such... can anyone explain to my why a python costs around $40-50 !? or a regular gravel vac costs $20-30 ?!

OK, if you must know, two recent threads that discuss fish diseases (or other things living in the aquarium) that are transmittable to humans:
http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80965
http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80773

It bums me out because I ALWAYS have my arms in my tanks. I've tried the shoulder-high gloves but don't like the lack of dexterity. And, like I said in the first thread, I almost always have some kind of cut or scrape on me :(

You'll hear about me soon as the only human to contract ich...

you can actually build your own gravel vac for about $5 and a python for 10-25 dollars. Its probabally because they have to pay about 10 people before it hits the stores.

yeah, I much prefer the Python, too, over the wild siphon tubes. But that is not without mess, either, as akapaul said.
