Your Experience with crayfish

I might be wrong correct me if I am but I think theres only two species of crayfish. The Cobalt blue from florida and another one forget the name from NY state. www.bluecrayfish.com is a site with info and where you can buy the NY ones at. I think there is just alot of common names for these guys.

And BTW I love my crayfish hes in a ten with three platies. Hes funny as heck if I dont put shrimp pellets in the tank when I feed the plaites he will come over two where I always drop them and them walk to the edge of the glass and wave his claws at me untill I drop one in. The first time he did this I was like why the heck is he doing that then I relized that he was in the spot where his food always is and I droped a piece in and he draged it under his pot happy as could be. Now ill not put it in on purpose just to see him flag me down. Crazy little bugger.

There are far more blue species/mutants than I knew about and I knew of at least 4.

The only experience I have with crayfish is dropping a trap at a lake. I got a whole bunch!!! And they sure tasted good! :thm:

If you want one I could trap you 1 this summer. Not a cool blue one, these are red to brown to almost black. But at least you don't have to pay for them. Except shipping of course.

Yabbies are just another name for Colbalt Blues or most other Blue Crays in Australia (or just crawfish in general).

Yeah I have one too & he was in a ten gallon till he started sniping off my fish so I moved him to my 60gal that same night he escaped & try to go back to the 10gal b/c when I woke up the next day he was laying right by the 10gal on his back with his legs barely moving he's alright now & they are pretty smart!

not all yabies are blue, me and a freind went 'yabbien' and we cought 63 yabbies all together and only4 were blue.
EDIT: i have read that crap water produces blac yabbies, moderate water makes mostly brown, but also black, green and blue, clear water makes blue and green mutations
